Staff Writer / November 27, 2024

With a lively holiday experience appropriately themed "Be Present for the Fun," Eastgate Shopping Centre is inviting guests to fully immerse themselves in the festive spirit this December. The centre will be transformed into a festive wonderland from December 1 to 24, providing families with countless hours of entertainment and unforgettable experiences that guarantee there is magic everywhere.

Meet Your Favourite Characters

Children can explore the Ackermans Character Shop in the Strelitzia Court from December 12–16. It's a charming area full of entertaining activities. Young guests can take part in activities featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Barbie, Spider-Man, and Batman. After that, Cartoonito will bring the holiday spirit to life from December 17–23 with the Batwheels activation, where customers can take part in arts and crafts projects, remote-control car racing, and appearances by their favorite Cartoonito characters. Disney plush Christmas trees featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Elsa, and other beloved characters from Disney's fantastical world will be installed at the centre this year. Visitors can scan a QR code and donate R50 or more to Reach for a Dream, which helps make dreams come true for kids with life-threatening illnesses. The station will be placed outside Krispy Kreme and Edgars.

The Festive Parade Is Not To Be Missed

Eastgate will come alive with a daily Christmas Parade from December 16 to 22. The parade will take place every day at 4 and 6 p.m. and will include a marching band, ballerinas, dancers, and aerial acts. A spectacular aerial performance will take place on the outdoor piazza after this delightful mobile spectacle travels throughout the centre. Although the parade is visible from many locations throughout the mall, Piatto, Mozambik, Simply Asia, La Parada, and Pizza Hut are excellent places to eat while watching the daily grand finale.

Visit Santa’s Post Box & Take Photos With Santa

From December 2 to December 20, a special "Letters to Santa" post box will be placed next to the Disney Tree outside Krispy Kreme on the upper level. Children who are excited to share their holiday wishes can now send their requests straight to the north pole. This holiday season, kids can enter to win an R1,000 Eastgate gift card by sending their letter to Santa. Then, from December 6 to 24, Santa himself will be coming for pictures on the lower level close to Edgars, allowing families to take priceless pictures. With packages starting at R200, photography makes ideal gifts or mementos.

Gift Shopping, Gift Wrapping & More

The centre will extend its trading hours from December 13 to December 23, understanding that choosing the ideal gifts takes time. Every day until 21:00, guests can shop, eat, and take in family entertainment at more than 200 stores. Well-known attractions include the pump track, IndyKart Go Karting, Air360 Skate Park, and Road House Roller Rink. Additionally, the renowned Ster-Kinekor movie theaters will continue to operate during the holiday season, offering countless hours of entertainment.
